Today I went on the perfect Christmas day trip to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Everything about this day just brought so many holiday vibes, so I thought why not share it on the Blog! Keep reading if you wanna see someone unreal views.
Before we went on our trip we took a little pit stop @ our usual Starbucks! We all got festive drinks to get in the mood- my dad even spiced things up & got holiday coffee even though he usually gets his black- I also got a peppermint brownie cake pop to go with my drink.
We started off our day in the historic down town area of Kennett Square. This literally looked like the scene of a Christmas movie because everything was decorated! I didn’t see one store that didn’t have wreaths, presents, pine, or fake snow in the window displays. So old fashioned and cute… Every new store we came across could be a new photo location- which means we obviously HAD to do a photoshoot… at every location- , also each store in Kennett was so unique. They have a ton of Independent shops native to Kennett, every corner you turned there was a cute boutique or coffee shop. We probably were in one of the boutiques for an hour looking at all their pieces. Jewelry, clothes and hilarious adult humored socks made it hard to leave a cute shop called– Green Eyed Lady. I ‘d give that shop a 10/10. Also, the town had these beautiful old buildings… that were also perfect for pics📸. Really could be a Hallmark Movie set. One store had a ugliest ornament contest on a tree in the window. So many funny submissions. Overall, my favorite part of the town was the old fashioned Christmas tree in the middle of the square! It just had Hallmark vibes & even had a little Letters to Santa box which was so CUTE!
Our next stop was lunch because it was around one o’clock so we were starving. We went to Buckley’s Tavern which is so aesthetically pleasing since they had brick floors, a fire place, gingham curtains, and a big window with a wreath. –Very Preppy – It was just so fun chatting with my fam & our family friends. I got a crab cake sandwich & french fries( I also stole some of my moms sweet potato fries… oops)
Now it was time for our main event of the day, Longwood Gardens. I knew it was gonna be pretty, but I didn’t expect it to be THIS pretty. When you arrive you first have to go through a little visitors center entrance area, and when you went through you arrived in an area that looked literally like a huge college campus. Then, you walked through a path to a huge building called the Conservatory. When you walk into the building its literally insane! There are plants everywhere that look so beautiful that they look fake… but they surely aren’t fake. Our joke was they all looked like they were on steroids. Poinsettias the size of basketballs. lol Christmas trees were hanging from the ceilings, flowers were coming out of the walls, and fountains were on the floor. You may be thinking wow this sounds like a lot, and trust me I was thinking the same thing! But you turn a corner and there is a new room filled with a whole new experience. Anywhere from a room of Cacti to a room of poinsettias or a room of roses everywhere was a unique sight. It is just really weird because it is so cold outside and in the conservatory you feel like it’s summer. Especially since it’s Christmas time, right now all the rooms are Christmas themed. Luckily I had my friend Sarah with me, who is a great photographer, so I got some amazing shots for the blog & Insta.
When it was time for us to leave I thought the show was over, but little did I know that there was a whole new experience to enjoy. Every single tree outside was decorated in lights… it was insane. The only problem was it was insanely cold so it was a little hard to fully enjoy it, but it still was so cool. There were Christmas carolers singing, a fountain light show, every single tree covered in lights, and EVERYONE taking photos. Really puts anyone in the Christmas spirit. Longwood Gardens made me feel in my element because it was normal for people to be taking photos at every location. Everywhere I went people were whipping out their cameras, so no one was looking at me weirdly for takin pics everywhere… I felt so at home. So by now it was time for us to go home- obviously after we hit up the gift shop-, so we said our goodbyes to Longwood and headed home.
It was a really fun day, I 10/10 recommend visiting Kennett Square it was so cute, and I will totally be going back in the future! I hope all of you are having a great holiday season, and thanks sm for reading this far!
