As you could probably tell from my last blog post, I go back to school soon which means it’s time to start preparing! The transition from summer to school isn’t the easiest because for most teens all our brains have been doing for the last 3 months is deciding which Netflix show to binge watch lol. For me personally, I’m entering my junior year which is known to be the hardest year of high school… yikes, so I spent the last week doing some things to physically & mentally prepare for school. I think the things I accomplished were really helpful for me, and If you wanna see what I did then just keep on reading!
✰Prepare Outfits/ Go Shopping✰
My favorite part of going back to school has to be the shopping! This year I got a bunch of super cute clothes from places like Urban Outfitters, PacSun, Reebok, Brandy Melville, etc. It was funny because the day I decided to go to the mall a Morphe makeup store was opening and a famous YouTuber, Jeffree Star, was there doing a meet and greet! I’ve watched some of his youtube videos in the past so it was cool that he was there, but I didn’t really want to stand in a line with a thousand people to meet him so I just kept shopping. The funniest thing happened then… I was walking by Louis Vuitton and heard girls screaming so I obviously pulled out my phone to take a video of what was happening, then Jeffree Star just walked right past me with all of his security to go into Louis Vuitton. My mom and I thought it was the funniest experience because these adults were trying to go into Louis Vuitton but were super confused who the person was that they were shutting down the store for! Well that was my little story time from my shopping trip, so lets get to the school prep. When it comes to clothes I have two schools tips
#1 Plan outfit ideas before school starts because your first week will be hectic
#2 pick out your outfits the night before, not in the morning
These two tips will just save you a bunch of time in the morning when you are getting ready, so you don’t end up spending 20 minutes picking out an outfit!
✰Get Hair and Eyebrows Done✰
Every year I get a fresh hair cut before going back to school. My usual is a trim with face framing layers in the front, I just think this looks best on me so that’s why its my staple. @ my hair cut I also get my eyebrows dyed lol. Since I’m a blonde my eyebrows are naturally very light, so I have to dye them so people can actually see my eyebrows. There are many perks to being a blonde but good eyebrows just isn’t one of them! Anyway, after I get my back to school hair cut I know school is coming…
✰School Supply Shopping✰
School can get boring sometimes, but if you have cute school supplies it can help with those dull moments. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your school supplies cute because all you need are trendy stickers. During the summer I like to collect stickers from the places I go to put on my folders. @ the beach I got a bunch of stickers that were $2, and @ Brandy Melville you can take as many stickers as you want for free! If you’re not sure if the place is giving out free stickers all you have to do is say “omg these are so cute” and most likely their response will be ” go ahead and take one” that’s how I ended up getting free stickers from 2 of my fav açaí bowl locations Oola Bowls & Playa Bowls! If you don’t have stickers don’t worry, you can also use sharpies and draw on your notebooks ( I’m not artistic so I don’t choose to do this, but if you are then go for it)
✰Test out your everyday makeup✰
My morning routine is whack at the beginning of the year, so I like to make sure I know what makeup I’m gonna do before the first day of school! In the morning I’m tired and don’t have a lot of time because I always spend to much time getting dressed. Here are 2 school makeup tips:
#1Prioritize- Pick your top 3 makeup items that you want to use and do them first (for me this is concealer, mascara, and eyebrow gel) This way if you don’t have time at least you got those 3 things done, and then if you have more time add in the bronzer, highlighter, blush, and whatever other makeup products you like.
#2 Skip the beauty blender, use a brush- When I used to use beauty blenders I would forget to wet them while I was in the bathroom, so I would have to walk all the way back to the bathroom wasting precious minutes. I recommend using the Morphe M536 brush instead of a beauty blender.
✰Skin Care 101✰
Every year when I head back to school my skin always changes. I seem to get more oily than usual, so I like to establish a good skincare routine to keep my skin fresh & glowy. Some of the brands I love to use for this is Kiehl’s, Clinique, and Skinceuticals. My biggest tip for school skin care is if you get oily like me keep Clean & Clear oil blotting sheets in your backpack they are an easy fix to avoiding the shiny afternoon nose and forehead! Especially on picture day because you never know what time you are going to get your picture taken.
These were some of the ways I prepared to go head on back into school. Just remember even though you may take all these steps to get back into school, it still is a big transition so you can’t expect everything to go perfect! Just remember everyone is in the same boat as you, so don’t stress and just keep trying your best. As you can probably tell, this is my last blog post for the summer! I hope you guys enjoyed all my summer posts, and I can’t wait for all the blog posts to come in my Junior year of high school.
