Happy Holiday’s everyone! Long time no see, sorry I’ve been so inactive recently like I’ve said in all of my blog posts – throughout my junior year- I have been extremely busy. It’s holiday break now though which means I can update all of y’all! Since today is Christmas I thought I would throw it back to my festive day trip on December 13th before we are past the season and off to the new year celebrations. That day was my 2nd annual trip to Longwood gardens, but that’s not exactly where this day trip began, so lets start at the very beginning…
First off we had to pick up our crew for the day, which included my mom, dad, my mom’s friend Kristine, and my friend Sarah, then we grabbed some breakfast. We ended up stopping @ Panera because it was in the direction of where we were going. I had a peach blueberry smoothie & a bagel. We ate our food in the car because we all were excited to get to our first stop, the Brandywine River Museum of Art in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. My parents own a lot of prints of the paintings that the museum had on display. The paintings were made by the members of the Wyeth family who are all talented artists.
Here are some of the pieces of art I took pictures of in the museum. They all had different unique looks to them, but my favorite ones would have to be the puppy & the Santa. My parents though love the pig picture made by Jamie Wyeth, a commonly known artist from the 20th century, a replica resides in our dining room at home. I took a video of it and took a picture of my parents beside the pig lol. We stayed in the museum around 2 hours and enjoyed all the art, Christmas decor, and children from a local choir singing holiday classics. It was a super fun experience and I’m glad we added it into our day at Longwood Gardens.
We knew for lunch we had to go to our favorite restaurant in Delaware called Buckleys Tavern. Every time we go there I will always get a crab cake sandwich and fries. It just tastes so good that I just need to get it over trying something new. Our lunch was amazing, but unfortunately it started to rain while we were eating which made it super cold. It was all good though since most of Longwood Gardens is inside. Which takes us to our main event. Post lunch it was time for Longwood. In case you didn’t know Longwood Gardens is a beautiful botanical garden in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania decorated for each season.
Sarah is a great photographer, and if you remember back to my last year Longwood post Sarah took all of the pics from that trip for me! She shot a ton of pics of me in front of the various Christmas displays. If you need to get into the holiday spirit Longwood gardens is the place to go, everything is just so magical and filled with holiday joy. To spice up my pics for the day I decided to put on a bright red lip from Nars. It matched perfectly with my Francesca’s checkered sweater. My skirt that I wore that day was also from Francesca’s. My mom and I were wearing matching J Crew Christmas socks, and I also had on my Kate Spade fanny pack. I loved my ootd from the day.
Throughout the day we all kept making comments of ” oh last year this was…” we found it super funny pointing out all the differences. One new thing though was a kids maze that was super cool! They had a smoke room with dry ice in water, a tree house, and a waterfall wall which you could stand behind. This is where we got some super sick pics! It looks as if it’s raining but somehow I’m dry lol. The camera captured the water droplets beautifully. After the maze, the day was coming to an end, it was getting dark outside and we had a long drive home. Of course though we had one pit stop… Chick-fil-A. My mom and I are obsessed with their peppermint milk shake. The flavor is just so good and each sip has pieces of peppermint and chocolate, but I only got a small since I had the ACT’s the next morning ugh. By the time I was done eating my Chick-fil-a we had arrived home, and our Christmas Day trip had came to a close.
Thanks you guys for reading all the way up to here! I’m so happy I was able to get a holiday blog post up for you guys. As I’m writing this on Christmas Day I just wanted to say I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and if you don’t celebrate any of those just have a great day in general. Just remember the reason for the season on this special day, so get off your phones, hang with your family, and make some special memories on this special day.
